True spiritual seeking is a necessary response to recognizing that the values which have been installed in you have no value.
The installation of false values gives us a false dependence on values, however, so what happens is we try and slew off the old values by adopting new values—which of course are only the old values dressed up in new language.
Logically, the measure of value is durability: what is truly good and meaningful is that which is eternal.
Yet nothing which can be named, described, identified as a “value”—or even experienced with the physical senses—is eternal.
