There is a part of us that’s only interested in completing our mission. “Do, or die trying.”
Emotionally, listening to Dave’s teachings is a bit like being told to leave a warm fireside and go walking in the cold and dark for an indefinite period. Despite the knowledge that the fire will die soon anyway, I experience huge resistance to these instructions.
This is how people die in the wilderness: waiting to be rescued.
We only have a limited amount of time to reach our destination (real safety). The longer we procrastinate, the less likely we are to reach it.
